Hard Drive Not Detected

SATA 25 2-Platter 11T355

The issue I’m having is that the hard drive powers on when plugged in, however it is not detected by any computer and thus I cannot browse my files etc. I do have another (older) backup of these files on another hard drive. I would be pleased if the files could be recovered at a reasonable price (as this is not very urgent) and I am happy to provide a second hard drive for files to be transferred to.

This is a request I put out into the world of data recovery providers. If you are wondering what data recovery provision is, it’s the supply of file recovery services from broken storage devices such as hard drives, cameras, and smartphones.

Initially I thought to myself that as knowing my way around a computer that I’d recover the data myself. I found a decent resource to help me diagnose the hard drive fault at http://data-recovery-tips.co.uk/ and came to the conclusion that my hard drive had bad sectors – areas of the drive where the data could no longer we accessed – apparently a very common problem. At this point my own attempts stopped as I learnt that I required hardware to rescue the data from my hard drive and software would only make things worse.

So I stopped working on the repair of this hard drive and turned my attentions to a drive belonging to a friend of mine. She’d told me: The issue I’m having is that the hard drive powers on when plugged in, however it is not detected by any computer and thus I cannot browse my files etc. I do have another (older) backup of these files on another hard drive. I would be please if you could recover my files at a reasonable price (as this is not very urgent) and I am happy to provide a second hard drive for files to be transferred to.

Of course as she is a friend I was prepared to repair the hard drive for free. Her description has provided little information to what the problem was so at the moment I don’t yet know whether I’m going to be able to do the job for her. She is bringing the hard drive to me later today.
