Hard Drive Recovery Sierra Leone

My name is James and I am the founder of Laughter Africa, a charity for street children in Sierra Leone. The charity laptop died on Monday. My mum and dad’s IT guy has got me a new hard drive and the laptop is working again but he couldn’t extract the information off the old hard drive-he said there is a mechanical fault on the hard drive itself. He’s reccommended you. I was just wondering if you would be able to fix it and how much it may be? Do you offer charity discounts? Don’t worry if not, but just thought that I would ask. I am flying back to Sierra Leone in the next few weeks so was also wondering how long it would take? If you could get back to me asap then that would be great.

Western Digital 1TB External Hard Drive, WDT-D2C (B). According to the opinion of two technicians, the data of my hard disk would be recoverable in clean room, because they would act of a mecanic problem (head of reading or other breakdown). The hard drive runs noiselessly, but the computer does not detect it anymore.
The hard disk contains Word, Exel, Pdf, Tiff and Jpeg image files and numerous audio files.
Audio files do not matter, so their recovery is not necessary.
The 1TB hard drive is occupied by about 700 Gb whose audio files represent about 150 Gb.
I evaluate the files to recover at about 400 Gb.

I have an external HDD that I normally use for PS4 I own and the connection of the actual HDD itself is loose and almost pulls out completely when removing the cable, also sounds like there maybe rattling inside, problem is don’t see no way possible of getting inside it so not sure what to do on getting inside it.

I have a Samsung HD753LJ HDD which failed to spin up after I transfered it to a new PC. I have a replacement PCB for it and the dive now spins up but it wont read the disk, I understand that I have to swap the rom chip from the old PCB to the new one, is this somthing you can do?

With all these hard drive problems my recommendation is the Data Recovery Tips website at http://data-recovery-tips.co.uk/. As Sierra Leone is a long way from the UK, you can follow the information on the Data Recovery Tips web site and attempt to recover the data yourself, or if you’d like someone else to do it for you, complete the contact form and they’ll get in touch with you.

Hospitals, Encrypted Data and Lost Files

Oh dear, he’s a post that really does emphasise how dangerous it is for people not to take backups of their data. Backing up your data properly means you’ll never need a data recovery company but of course, not many people do backup their data.

My phone froze so I turned it off to put it back on. But then it wouldn’t come back on. Since then I haven’t been able to access the phone. I have not reset the phone so all my data is on there. I lost my photos which is the main thing I want back. It’s an iPhone 6 and it’s now in recovery mode. Is there a way to get my data back

500GB Seagate drive (Maybe 10 years old). Wouldnt power up (no noise), removed from external caddie and placed into a another one, no luck with any power. has about 250gb data on it mainly photos and videos (family memories 😦 ) Looking for options you think are available to be and cost implications on average.

Seagate external drive – has been working fine with MacBook Pro (as external storage and regular back-ups). Suddenly not showing up when plugged into Mac. Have changed cable with other external drives (which work and show-up in finder). Drive does not make any odd sounds and operation light illuminated.

encrypted filesHospital doctor. Research laptop which is a Dell laptop with 1 tb hard drive used for analysing imaging data with a software called PMI. Recently computer unable to turn on, with black screen and error message. Not able to boot up.
We took computer to the hospital (LGI) IT service who said the operating system was corrupted and the hard drive had a partitioning problem. They tried to sort this however we are still unable to retrieve all files as all my imaging raw data is not available currently. They unfortunately then encrypted the laptop without our consent my mistake and I am in the process of re-doing this and unencrypting this. Once I have done this I was hoping to seek your advice on whether you can try to extract the data I need from the laptop which currently appears lost. The data is all anonymised imaging data that we have spent >100 hours analysing and shamefully we did not back most of this up hence why we are so desperate to retrieve this.

Drive was from inside an enclosure, enclosure was dropped, drive wont stay spinning
spins for 10 seconds upon connection, then powers back down
I have a WD external hardrive with model number
Bought approx 8 years ago. It has suddenly stopped working in that it is no longer recognised by my PC. I have plugged it into my laptop and the issue remains the same.
Took it to a phone / laptop repair place at top of Church Street – they said it was beyond repair and they couldn’t retrieve the data but would like a second opinion if possible. I understand if the files can be copied from it onto a new device I’d have to supply this.
Please let me know if this is something you could have a look at ?

Data Recovery on Helium hard drive

In this post we look at a question from a client who has a helium filled hard drive that has stopped working.

“I have a reasonable doubt that my HGST 8TB ultrastar HE8 has a defective PCB due to liquid exposure.
Rather than spend hundreds of euros for a new one I’m interested whether you would happen to have a spare part for it?
P/N: 0F23668
Model number I believe is HUH728080ALE604
Item number I believe is 0F23668AR85140P4C
I am in London, England”

helium hard drive

Hi, thanks for your enquiry. This is a helium filled hard drive which means that if there’s any type of mechanical failure on it, the likelihood of successfully recovering the data are slim. One of the reasons for this is that to work on the inner mechanical workings of the hard drive requires a data recovery company to open it up. Opening the hard drive releases the helium into the atmosphere. This can’t be easily replaces which means that once the mechanical fault has been fixed, the drive will be operating in normal atmosphere, rather that helium. This will cause the drive to heat up extremely quickly so a data recovery company will only have a very small amount of time to get the data off the drive before it fails again.

Now fortunately, it *may* be that the hard drive will not need to be opened as it is probable that the hard drive is electrically, not mechanically damaged. This makes recovery easier as we don’t have to open the hard drive and release the helium. Rather we need to fix the problem on the hard drive’s controller board. This is usually done by either implementing an electrical work-around on the original drive or getting a replacement compatible board and reprogramming it with the data from the original broken board.

As you are in London I can recommend two data recovery companies that will be able to help you. They are Data Clinic on Lombard Street and Computer Science Labs.

A selection of queries (hard drives and phones)

Icon saying What a varied world we live in – in terms of data recovery I thought I’d list some of the latest queries that have come into the data recovery centre. As you learn if you read the blog, we can get the data back from most hard drives and phones!

  • Run-over iPad Air. Buckled, glass all smashed but internals intact. Won’t connect to iTunes when plugged in. Any way to bypass charging cable and connect via internals?
  • External hard drive fell from sofa armrest while attached to laptop. It didn’t hit the ground as the USB cable stopped it. It did hit the armrest but not particularly hard.
  • I have a Seagate expansion external hard drive. I dropped on floor today and now its making a buzzing sound when I connect to my Mac. I am based in Chessington in Surrey
  • Hard drive suddenly stopped working, OS will not boot. The disk is spinning and it is clicking constantly. OS started as Windows Vista and has been upgraded over the years to Window 10.
  • I have a 2TB WD ‘My Passport X’ which I’ve had for a matter of months and it has failed. It won’t show on my mac and when plugged in, it bleeps 9 times, then 3, then 3. Please can you provided me with a quote to recover the data from it?
  • I have an external 8TB drive that is no longer being read by my PC. It fell off my desk and now Windows makes the sound to indicate it has been connected but it doesn’t appear on the list in explorer. There is approximately 4TB worth of data on there, that is very valuable. Ironically I bought the drive to keep it all safe and secure. Could you give me an estimate on the cost to recover the data?
  • My external hard drive has failed. It’s a 1TB drive which was about 50% used. Files are mainly documents, pictures and music files. I have a new external hard drive to move the data onto. it was formatted to MAC. Are you able to recover the files and put onto the new hard drive
  • I have a Seagate external hard drive with 10 years worth of photos (every photo of my daughter) which stopped working out of the blue. As far as I know it wasn’t dropped or knocked. I had a local IT company look at it and he said that it looked like the drive has failed. The drive does attempt to spin up however it fails and then goes back into standby. He attempted to get a new PCB board for it but couldnt get the exact one. He said that a specialised company could still retrieve the date, so basically I am looking for advice

So there we have a varied selection of data recovery enquiries – please if you would like me to look to retrieve the files from any faulty or broken device you may have, get in touch.

Trust button on iPhone

Here’s an interesting post about the trust button on an iPhone not working. To get around the issue of access the data again I used the http://phone-recovery.pen.io/ link. Please read the article and follow the links where necessary.

I have an iphone 7 and the screen is broken and not possible to fix from what the shops are saying. One shop did manage to put my security code in, but when trying to retrieve messages, they couldn’t manage to press the “trust button“? I need to simply retrieve text messages, as have important one’s, that I need from my ex-wife, as currently have a court case regarding access to my son.

Trust button on iPhone

My phone dropped in water.
I’ve been told that there is a problem with my motherboard.
Could you please recover my data and may I know how much that will be?

I phone 6 dropped in water yesterday, notes did not back up to I cloud are you able to help recover them?

My GF Deleted some photo from a s7 edge and i want the photo back Its posibile ???
i dropped my Samsung galaxy A3 in water
it turns on but doesn’t recognise sim card
it charges but does not allow me to transfer media from phone storage to laptop/new phone
I also lost my whatapp pictures and on my iPhone the Trust button is not showing so I can’t connect to any other devices.
I really need my contacts
please can you help retrieve my contacts and media from phone storage…??
I have can bring the phone to you in a central London location (Dataclinic are on Lombard Street) as soon as possible

I have an iPhone 6 that was dropped in water last Friday, I kept it in rice and on the radiator for 3-4 days and it did turn on briefly but since then it is completely dead despite charging it, I have since read online that trying to turn it on and charging it is the worst thing to do and unfortunately I did this. My phone wasn’t backed up and I have years of photos on my phone that I really would like to get back if possible. I’ve an idea to use the trust button feature to copy my data off but of course I can’t turn the phone on to do this. Can you help?

WD Passport Hard Drives have stopped working

When a hard drive breaks down we often need to get the files off the hard drive, but if the hard drive is no longer working how do we do it?? The answer is to go to sites that can tell us what to do and offer good data recovery advice – one that we recommend i Recover Deleted Data at http://www.recover-deleted-data.co.uk/

Data recovery software to recover files:
I recently stupidly quick formatted my external HDD WD My Book 1TB (about 800GB of Data). I’ve tried to recover my files using Remo Recover and restored a large amount of them but they are all corrupt and unreadable. I wondered if in doing this i’ve screwed my chances of getting the data because the “recovered” files were saved back onto the same drive so has that killed their “ghost” files? is there a possibility of still retrieving my files?

Leeds HDD that has been to a data recovery company: 2.5’’ WD 500GB, WD5000LPVX-75X0TT0. I have this diagnosis already: ‘storage medium has damaged reading heads and the recording surface of the plate’ I need to recover about 5 folders from desktop. Not a big amount of files but ones which will cause me to have to work all weekend if I don’t get them back.
I live in Harrogate near Leeds and am coming into Leeds city centre at the weekend. I can get close to Gelderd Road.

Harrogate, Leeds

This enquiry describes a motor problem with the hard drive: I’ve a WD passport that won’t open and I’d like you to retrieve all the data off it so I can continue to use the data. I have a new hard drive that it can all go on. Portable External HDD (Western Digital 500gb) , which has stopped reading. Motor still spinning, but not responding.

London – This one describes and electrical HDD fault: Dead HDD. I have replaced the PCB, and the drive spins, so I want to move the BIOS from one PCB to another (I have numerous PCBs), but my soldering skills aren’t up to the task. Can you move the BIOS from one PCB to another? I live in Hammersmith, so its easy for me to get to your Chiswick premises, or any general London address.

Chiswick, London

WD drive with bad sectors?: Transferred work from an external hard drive that seemed to be having issues connecting all the time onto a new western digital hard drive. I did this by cutting and pasting everything onto the seagate hard drive. I plugged into laptop and tried several others and it wasn’t registering with any of the computers. The tech guy at work looked at it and said there was an issue. He tried ornament in severs computers and then suggested taking it apart and trying to reinstall it. This was unsuccessful and that it was completely useless. now I have a faulty hard drive that has been taken apart and all
Of my work is on it and he other hard drive is empty. Is there any way to resolve and recovering my work?

Beeping hard drive – therefore broken motor: My external hdd WD Passport fall on the wooden floor from approx 2m by accident. When connected into usb port, start beeping couple times and nothing recognised. I guess there is some problem with reading head inside or rotor. Could you pls make me data recovery? Not all, just some sensitive data ( I will specify path to important folders later).

Recover Deleted Data’s file retrieval service is available throughout the UK, including in Harrogate, Leeds and Chiswick, London.

WD Samsung and Seagate

oh dearWD Woes
Manufacturer: WD
I dropped a heavy speakers on my hard drive which is (WD My Passport 1TB) and it is giving a sawtooth wave sound for 3 seconds and stops. I have very important data I want to recover, so, can I please know what is the procedure in order to do so. Drive is located in London, near Kings Cross station.

My western digital external drive power jack has broken and need to get data off it and onto new drive. no standard caddy will fit I don’t think. I also have an old WD 120 gb HDD cant retrieve data since i accidentally broke seal

My external Hard Drive (WD Elements) fell down and is now making ticking sounds. Therefore I need to attempt a recovery of my files. I can come to London if necessary

Samsung SSD Data Recovery
I think the disk is about a 512 Gb SSD.
Samsung portable hard drive, data is no longer accessible. Tried data recovery software to no avail. Needs the drive removing and putting in a new unit.

Seagate and Samsung external drives containing video files. Drive fell off desk and now won’t show up on Mac desktop and makes a slight beeping sound.

2 x DLT tape backup made using HP-UX fbackup V10.2. Want to recover to USB encrypted hard drive (we can supply)

We have a hard drive that we cannot access. This has happened after a power failure. We have software on the drive that we use daily.
The drive is a Seagate ST340015A.

i have deleted photos from my samsung phone. They were on an external hard drive. Can u please help?

File Record Segment and Read Failures on hard drive

Just this evening my girlfriend was using her laptop and her 2.5″ HDD failed with something like a “Read failure with status 0xc000000e”. I tried to get it to work in various ways but to no avail. It makes a small buzzing sound for about half a second every second or so. There are some error messages too: “File record segment 89D3 is unreadable“. It’s a Western Digital WD Scorpio Blue 1TB HDD. I was just wondering what your policies are for recovery and what kind of cost I would be looking at. There is some very important data on that drive, my girlfriend is a photographer and it has all her work on it. Ideally the Ellesmere Port centre would work the best for us as we live not too far away in Chester. (Liverpool or Manchester would also be fine).

read failure with status error (hdd)

I also have bought an iPad Pro and want to transfer all my data on my current iPad (iPad 3 purchased 2012) to my new iPad.
The iPad 3 (2012) doesn’t charge when I connect it to the mains. (I want to create a back up to restore to my new iPad Pro.
When I took it to the Apple Store I was told they can’t help me and the Apple Bar Genius who looked at it recommended that I contact yourself (Data Clinic) as you are experts at retrieving files from systems with file record segments that are unreadable.
He said that Data Clinic is the best place to try for recovering the data from the iPad 3 and updating the iPad Pro with this data

The hard drive has failed with read failures. It has been inspected by a computer repair shop in Chester and we are told it’s dead. However, it is possible to ‘see’ the files on the hard drive but just not to access them- so the data is on there, we just can’t get to it. Some of the data is backed up elsewhere at home- but not all of it. I wonder if you might be able to help and also to let me know what kind of cost we would realistically be looking at for recovery of the data.

Toshiba Hard Drive Failure

Complete drive failure. Taken apart to have a look at, makes a loud scraping noise. Not recognised by the computer at all. I have been told it is complete drive failure and this would be the only way to recover the data. Is this something you can do and how much does this service cost? The drive is a Toshiba model and I am in Leytonstone, near Foxtons.

My wifes Toshiba MK2555GSX hard drive has stopped booting up in her laptop. I’ve removed it and tried booting it by the esata port on my laptop and it makes the same sounds as on datacent.com that indicates its a stuck spindle. Would you be able to give me quote for how much it would cost to recover the data from it?

The power cord was pulled from the Netgear Readynas Duo running 3 x MK2555GSX hard drives. When it was turned back on, the lights flashed an error pattern that indicates a disk error. Upon mounting the drive in a Windows 10 machine, the Disk Management utility reports “bad disk”. DiskInternals Linux Reader’s log file says “Read Error The drive cannot find the sector requested Disk: 0 (0x6F3BAE0) Sector: 0 Size: 512b

Toshiba laptopA member of staff brought in a Toshiba laptop that would not boot up. I tried everything and no matter what i did it would not boot so i figured the hard drive might be corrupt.
I then took out the hard drive and put it into an enclosure like i normally do, it wouldnt show up in windows explorer so i made the disk online using disk part. it would then show up but i could not see any files…
I tried using Recuva, that sort of worked (showed loads of files) not one file appeared that was over 1 mb!
How much will it cost for you to recover the data. I am trying to price up if the data is worth more than the cost of repair or not.

Hard drive took a knock and now makes a whirring noise and doesn’t connect or show up on pc. I believe it is a western digital hard drive, 1tb. Would you be able to provide a quote for recovery?

Save Phone Data

I dropped my phone down the toilet a couple of days ago, and I’m wondering if you can save as much of my photos and notes as you can. My phone is completely dead and like to get all the photos/videos off. It is a Samsung alpha. Is this something you could give me a price for please? Following the advice on http://phone-recovery.pen.io/ has meant in this case I got my data back safely.

Samsung J3 mobile phone

I have a samsung galaxy tab 3 p5210 that needs jtag repair.
I was trying to reinstall stock rom in odin and during flash the laptop died. Now the tablet will not do anything, won’t boot into recovery or download mode.
Do you offer jtag repair for tablets?

Is it possible to recover data (contacts, SMS etc) from a SIM CARD, not the mobile phone but the SIM card.

Samsung J3 phone with a Micro SD card however the phone is saying that it preparing the SD card and checking for errors and then that the card is damaged, she has lost all the photos she has and I would really like to get them back for her. They were abroad on holiday and had issues at customs which in turn means they went through the x-ray machines on estimate 10 times and I am considering that this could have had an effect on the phone / memory card.

Dropped iPhone 5s from height of 1.5 meter onto hard floor. No case. Thin crack on screen. Will not turn on at all. Tried hard reset. Tried charging. Handset warms up when on charge but unable to get any power to the phone. Have not recently backed it up and have lots of of sentimental photos and videoes on there.

I need to retrieve deleted whatsapp/SMS/mms from my phone from before I changed my number. I haven’t ever backed it up either. Is this possible? Is it very costly?

Apple iPhone 6 128GB. I have lost the backups on my laptop and 1 incomplete back up of 101GB on iCloud. While attempting to back up the iPhone on my laptop the phone bugged and froze out so I did a forced reset. After this the phone was stuck on the Apple screen. It was brought to an Apple Store who updated my software from iOS 10.2 I think to iOS 11. Now the phone switches on but when I enter my passcode to unlock it, it goes dead and switches back on. The process repeats. Apple technician thinks the memory might be too full, I doubt that, I’ve tried to re update it but the same problem exists. I have 11,000 photos and 100 video on it that aren’t backed up or copied and I really don’t want to loose them. I’ve had a kid in between and most of these photos are his first 2.5 years in the world. In your opinion, and being fully honest, do you think this data is still recoverable? I’m hoping it could be the battery or the cb2c chip? (Not sure if the chip name is correct)
