Just this evening my girlfriend was using her laptop and her 2.5″ HDD failed with something like a “Read failure with status 0xc000000e”. I tried to get it to work in various ways but to no avail. It makes a small buzzing sound for about half a second every second or so. There are some error messages too: “File record segment 89D3 is unreadable“. It’s a Western Digital WD Scorpio Blue 1TB HDD. I was just wondering what your policies are for recovery and what kind of cost I would be looking at. There is some very important data on that drive, my girlfriend is a photographer and it has all her work on it. Ideally the Ellesmere Port centre would work the best for us as we live not too far away in Chester. (Liverpool or Manchester would also be fine).
I also have bought an iPad Pro and want to transfer all my data on my current iPad (iPad 3 purchased 2012) to my new iPad.
The iPad 3 (2012) doesn’t charge when I connect it to the mains. (I want to create a back up to restore to my new iPad Pro.
When I took it to the Apple Store I was told they can’t help me and the Apple Bar Genius who looked at it recommended that I contact yourself (Data Clinic) as you are experts at retrieving files from systems with file record segments that are unreadable.
He said that Data Clinic is the best place to try for recovering the data from the iPad 3 and updating the iPad Pro with this data
The hard drive has failed with read failures. It has been inspected by a computer repair shop in Chester and we are told it’s dead. However, it is possible to ‘see’ the files on the hard drive but just not to access them- so the data is on there, we just can’t get to it. Some of the data is backed up elsewhere at home- but not all of it. I wonder if you might be able to help and also to let me know what kind of cost we would realistically be looking at for recovery of the data.
